In resent years, Ningbo has been honored as "national civilized city" and the "Happiest City of China". On October 21, Chinese City with Best International Image, an award voted by a foreign jury. At the awarding ceremony held in Nanjing yesterday, Tan Dahui, Member of the Standing Committee of Ningbo Municipal Committee of CPC and Mayor of Ningbo, received the award on behalf of Ningbo.
This election is the first one in China as a scientific investigation of the international image of Chinese cities and the jury is all foreigners. The organizer entrusted a research company to make a subjective investigation among 7,980 respondents from over 100 countries of the 6 continents
with the questionnaire designed by the research center of Public relations of Fudan University. The questionnaire has 12 indicators, namely: the longing-for degree, the city culture, the environment, the quality of the citizens, the public security, convenience of life, the unique features of the city, credit, government efficiency, investment environment, development potential and the degree of internationalization.
The top ten cities are Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Nanjing, Huangzhou, Ningbo, Xi'an, Changsha, Kunming, and Changchun. Chengdu and Ningbo have the same total scores.
Reportedly, The survey is organized by the Oriental Outlook of Xinhua News Agency, the Working Committee of China Urban Development Report of China Mayors' Association, the research center of Public relations of Fudan University and the The Travel Channel.
