In the first 10 months this year, the foreign trade of Ningbo turns over 67.29 billion yuan, close to the historical record Ningbo made in 2008.
The other day, Ningbo Customs released the statistics of the foreign trade of Ningbo. The statistics show that in the first 10 month this year, the total import and export volume was 67.29 billion US dollars, increased by 37.5% over the same period of last year, only 650 million dollars less than the annual total of 2008.
In the last month, the import and export volume exceeded the average of the last year. In this month, the import and export is increasing considerably fast but the monthly export is dropping down.
Statistics of Ningbo Customs show that in October, the total of import and export is 6.218 billion US dollars, and compared with the average of 7 billion US dollars from May to September, there was a drop down in the total of import and export in October. In the first 10 months this year, the total of import and export reaches 67.29 billion US dollars.
In terms of the markets for the export, European Union and USA are still the principal trade partners of Ningbo. The exports to the two are respectively 15.44 billion and 9.72 billion US dollars.
In the first 10 months, the export amounted to 42.45 billion US dollars, increased by 35.7% above the same period of the previous year. The number of foreign trade enterprises with export performance is over 10,000.
According to Ding Haibin, Vice Director of Ningbo Foreign Economy and Trade Bureau, in the situation of the appreciation of the yuan and the raw materials, the fast growth of exports indicates the considerable competitiveness of the foreign trade enterprises in the international markets. However, the city has not yet made great breakthroughs in getting the pricing power and as a result the profit of export is reducing constantly causing increasing pressure on the enterprises.
Speaking for the prospect of the foreign trade this year, Ding Haibin said, the total of import and export of this year will be close to 80 billion US dollars. But it is a bit difficult to reach 80 billion dollars. It is advised that the enterprises should maintain the good momentum, and make active measures to explore the overseas markets.
